The age of development has ushered a new era of prosperity and human comfort, and never has been a time this perfect for promoting imagination, creativity, innovation and faith across all individuals. The issue of further divisive aspects that the society is facing right now due to rapid development is all more the reason why we need to equip the church and help others show the right path.
The term ‘equipping’ may create some confusion for those who are not
aware of the term in the context of the church, so we will clarify that first. ‘Equipping the church’, in the broadest sense, means committing to collaboration and
growth in a community where church ministry and priests play an active role in
facilitating development, immersive learning experiences and effective
transformation for the community and society. Equipping ministry are those who are
involved in the thick of the process and are the key to moving in the right
path of equipping.
Now the question arises, ‘what is the need of equipping?’. Why should
one give their valuable time to this process, and what benefits does it offer?
Equipping is a long process of growth and development. Not just of the
community, but growth of individuals. Priests and pastors in the equipping
church have vast additional duties apart from regular prayers and sermons; they
are involved deep in the service of the society. The church aims to seek
knowledge from the more fortunate ones and share it among the less fortunate
ones. The spirit of sharing is important here; this does not aim to benefit a
few, but the entire community. Along with individual development, the society develops,
moving in a common, shared path.
Different churches have their own cohorts that are tailored to the
developmental needs of the community which they serve. While the core needs of
anu community remain the same, the broader needs may vary. It is the duty of
the equipping church to properly interact with the community and understand
their needs. Building leadership qualities, developing adaptivity, innovation,
cultural establishment etc. are some of the areas where equipment is usually carried
out.
For engagement to be effective, the participation of the society is
important. Maximum participation impacts lives in ways that limited
participation can never hope to reach. There must be interest, the will to
develop and learn. The equipping ministry can only show the path; it is the
duty of the individual to walk through and reach the end of the light.
There are many equipping churches across US. You can contact your
nearest equipping church if you want to be a part of change and development,
for it is key to individual growth and change. Most churches have listed out
their programs on their websites, making it easy for you to take a decision on
how you want to approach it.
