Planning to Start a Christian Podcast? Here are 5 Tips to Help You Get Started

With the popularity of podcasts on rise, one can find podcasts on almost any subject matter online, ranging from movies, games, news and religious sermons. As simple as it sounds, some decent planning goes into launching a podcast, sometimes depending on the type of podcast. As the popularity of religious podcasts increase If you are planning to launch a religious podcast such as Christian podcast or ministry podcast, here are some tips to help you get started smoothly:

1. Planning Goals: The first thing you want to do is plan your goal. What is it that you want to achieve with your Christian podcast or ministry podcast? Do you want to start a sermon-based podcast or want to just talk about Christianity and how it has positively touched the lives of people all around the globe? Depending on what your goal is, you can move on to the next step, which is planning the content. Your goals should effectively cover what exactly you want your podcast to be in a few years or so.

2. Choosing Podcast Content: The next step is to chose what your podcast will have. You can choose a wide range of topics ranging from preaches to sermons, stories, general talks and many more. You just have to pick up the right kind of content that you are comfortable with and get on with it. While podcasts are in audio medium, you can also choose to set up an extension account on YouTube where you can simultaneously present in video format to draw in YouTube viewers.

3. Choosing the Platform and Hosting: The next step is choosing where you want to host your podcast. There are various platforms available where you can get started for free or by paying a small fee, ranging from popular apps like Spotify to Audible and many niche apps where you can plan and host all your content. The best way to choose a platform is by doing some simple research on existing Christian podcasts and checking which sites pull in the most viewers to help you get a head start in follower count. Do make sure that your chosen provider has an app where users can conveniently listen to.

4. Getting the Right Equipment: While many podcast hosting companies offer convenience for new creators such as simple audio recording via mobile, it is advisable to get professional recording equipment if you are serious about your podcast. You can get a really good noise cancellation microphone between $100-$200, with professional grade versions setting you back by $300+. You also have to invest in a good external drive to store copies of all your recordings, and a camera if you plan to run a YouTube channel simultaneously. You will also require a set of soundproof foams to block out outside noise, easily available on Amazon. Getting a sound mixer device is also a great idea that allows you to add background sound effects live to your voice recording. Finally, you will need two more essential components: a recording software and good quality noise cancelling headphones to be able to hear your own voice.

5. Publication, Sharing and Feedback: Once you have recorded your podcast and published it on to your chosen content publisher app, you need to plan where all you want to share your podcasts. You can go the usual routes such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or get into niche sites such as online Christian groups and forums, Reddit etc. You can also take feedback from listeners that will allow you to improve continuously and help build loyalty between your listeners.
